MARY RUTH'S : HOME AWAY FROM HOME

MARY RUTH'S : HOME AWAY FROM HOME

Thank You for road work on the Interstate.

Well , maybe just this One day.

Hey babe, " I'm hungry, are you?", My wife asked me. That's impeccable timing. Because I was hungry and we were less than 1 mile from Exit 114

on I-65 (Interstate 65) near Georgiana, AL.

Did we know where Google Maps would lead us? No not necessarily but I will forever be grateful! The 2 minute drive from the exit and we're at the front door of MARY RUTH'S RESTAURANT on AL 106 near Georgiana.

When we walked in we immediately felt at HOME!

Hello have a seat wherever you want. I will bring your drinks. My wife drinks "diluted" sweet tea (YES she is from the south) normally its 1/2 unsweet - 1/2 sweet, but it didn't matter that day - Sweet tea is what was being served and that was just fine. I knew then in my heart of hearts this place was going to be Good. And it did not disappoint!

There was no explanation needed, the line to deliciousness was about 8 people deep. Baked Chicken, Smothered Pork Chops, Roast, Collard Greens, Mac and Cheese, Green Bean Casserole, Squash Casserole, Yams (Candied of course), Cornbread and More.

Mary Ruth's Famous Fried Chicken - Marvin & myself after enjoying a Fantastic lunch!

Oh yeah I saved the BEST for last - Mary Ruth's Famous Fried Chicken! Unbelievably Good!

The first bite was like experiencing Radiant Rays of Sunshine dancing around my head - maybe a glimpse into the Heavens! I guess you may get the idea. I have eaten fried chicken but not Fried Chicken like that!

Crispy, Juicy, Tender, and any other adjective for spectacular. Everything made from scratch and "Made with Love! Yes Love! Ask Marvin or Katrina, and they will tell you their food is #madewithlove

Southern food made by Southern people. During our dining experience we met a nice couple from Ohio. They mentioned they cannot get food like this back home. When they travel south towards Gulf Shores, AL for vacationing (which I recommend) they try to stop in each time. Trust me its worth the drive!

When we left we knew we would be back. Because you can't leave home without coming back, right?

Well when we returned about a month and a half later, as we walked in the door Marvin said welcome back home! Some of the best hospitality combined with some of the best southern food I've EVER eaten makes it one of the BEST restaurants I've ever stepped foot in!

If you're a traveler, a foodie, or just driving past Exit 114 on I-65 near Georgiana, AL stop in enjoy fantastic food and experience some of the nicest people you will ever meet.
